Today's open discussion thread, complete with your daily dose of Winnipeg Jets-related news and notes.

Hey all! Here is our feature running Monday through Friday that will bring you up to date on what's going on in the media pertaining to the Winnipeg Jets and elsewhere in the NHL.

Here is what's in the news for Thursday, December 20, 2012:

Did we really need a story explaining why Evander Kane posted a picture of his "money phone" on Twitter? Apparently, yes. Yes we did. [WFP]

Then, Gary Lawless gets his loathsome talons out. Nevermind that Lawless has a personal vendetta against Kane and is physically unable to say or write anything other than disparagement about him. Apparently Kane is "uncoachable", as though that had any bearings on what transpired yesterday. Kudos to reader PainKiller for the link. [WFP]

But two stories wasn't enough, the Winnipeg Sun had to get in on the action. So here's story number three! [Winnipeg Sun]

And story number four!!! Listen people, you need to read these articles like I need a bullet in my brain. TWITTER JOKES ARE SERIOUS FUCKING BUSINESS!!! "A guy holding a bundle of cash is ridiculous. If he's giving it to a soup kitchen or a charity or some sort, then that would be a different story. But just holding a wad of cash in your ear? That's not right. That's not right at all." Congrats, Rick Siebert. You're a moron. [Winnipeg Sun]

And to top it all off, Paul Friesen weighs in. Let me preface by saying I like Paul Friesen's work and see its value where most don't. But this article has an old man yells at cloud kind of vibe. Headline should read: Evander Kane proves what we already knew; he's rich. [Winnipeg Sun]

Kane went on to touch on his time with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, the one newsworthy story that came out of this whole Twitter mess: "Everyone thinks it’s a faster game and it’s more exciting, but if you look at it closely, it’s really not. It’s a lot of sitting back and trapping it up. Me wanting to get on the forecheck, pressure and play that NHL style of game, it’s tough to do over there." [Winnipeg Sun]

Okay, moving on to real news: Bill Daly told Elliotte Friedman he expects NHL hockey to return this year, which is hopefully good news. [Globe and Mail]

Alas, the standoff carries on. Looks like more cancellations are on the horizon. [National Post]

Behold, TSN's list of the Top-40 Canadian World Junior players. Hey look, Justin Pogge! [TSN]
