It's been mentioned ad naseaum around here lately, but the St. John's IceCaps have been all sorts of pedestrian early on in this AHL season. A lack of goal scoring has been one of the team's chief concerns, right up there with the team’s ineffective power play and sub-standard goaltending.
Nevertheless, the IceCaps are still in good shape within the Atlantic Division, their record of 4-4-0-0 good enough for second seeding. Fittingly, the IceCaps' will play the three divisional foes hot on their heels in the Portland Pirates, Worcester Sharks and Providence Bruins this weekend.
With a good showing on the road, the IceCaps can further distance themselves from the pack, keeping pace with the Atlantic-leading Manchester Monarchs, who they match-up with next Wednesday. Should they go anything short of 2-1-0-0 in this weekend's set, they run the risk of being usurped by one or more of the three teams trailing them.
Tonight's game will start at 7:30PM EST while Saturday and Sunday's games will go at 7:00PM EST and 3:05PM EST respectively.
