Altitude Check: Friday January 6, 2012 Winnipeg Jets Headlines

Hey all! Here is our feature running Monday through Friday that will bring you up to date on what’s going on in the media pertaining to the Winnipeg Jets.

Here are your headlines for Friday, January 6, 2012:

Tim Campbell nails it in his recap of last night’s game against Toronto: “That sound you hear is the wind that follows the teams blowing by the Winnipeg Jets. Tied for sixth in the NHL’s Eastern Conference just last weekend, the Jets are back to 10th after Thursday night’s inept 4-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. The Leafs were good at home and goalie Jonas Gustavsson picked up his second career shutout with 24 saves. If he had three difficult ones to make all night, it would be generous grading.” [WFP]

Randy Jones pulled a Chris Pronger against the Leafs last night, tossing the game puck into the stands after Jonas Gustavsson recorded his second career shutout. [WFP]

True North Sports and Entertainment will face liquor-board charges for serving alcohol to a minor after the October 9, 2011 home game versus Montreal. “The range of possible penalties for True North, which operates under a “spectators activities license,” include a warning or a fine, she said. A dismissal of the charges is also possible. [WFP]

I feel terrible for Scott Taylor’s copy of Eastside Hockey Manager. He’s probably gotten so enveloped in making trades that he has melted the disc in the C:// Drive. [Jets Nation]

Congrats to Paul Postma and Zach Redmond for being chosen as AHL Eastern Conference All-Stars. [The Fan 590]

Finally, it’s your last chance to scoop up tickets for tomorrow night’s College Hockey Classic at the MTS Centre. For those of you who don’t normally go to Jets games, throw down $20.00 for great seats (I’m sitting in the upper 100’s) and enjoy some live hockey to kick-start your new year! Message me on Twitter if you plan on attending and I’ll buy you a beer! (I’ve done all the leg work for you in the link, just click and purchase!) [Ticketmaster]

Ed. Note: There will be no Winnipeg Jets headlines for Monday, January 9, 2012 as we will be running a special piece in it's place. Stay tuned!
