Power Rankings: Jets Enter All-Star Break With A Whimper
Hello hockey fans, welcome to another edition of AIH's Jets Power Rankings as we once again turn our eyes to the world of mass media to see how the Hockey World views the Jets in comparison to the other teams.
While this weeks edition is late, I felt the need to post something...anything really.
The Jets are clearly slumping, though it's hard to say that they aren't trying, as they continue to grind and pour shots on net. They just aren't going in. Losing star players Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien to injury has not helped matters either. Hopefully Buff can return after the All-Star Break to provide a spark to the Jets offense.
| Outlet | This Week | Last Week | What They're Saying |

23 | 20 | The up-and-down Jets are suffering through a downward spiral once again with a three-game losing streak. |

24 | 22 |
Losing LW Evander Kane is a challenge for a team not overrun by goal-scorers, but Kane was mired in a January slump (0 G, 2 A, minus-7 in nine games) before he was sidelined. |

22 | 23 | The Jets suddenly are having trouble winning at home as well as on the road. They have just three wins in their past 10 games and that's dulled talk of a surprise playoff berth in Manitoba. |
![]() |
22 | 20 | It's looking like Dustin Byfuglien won't be representing the Jets at the All-Star Game. He hasn't played since Dec. 23 because of a knee injury |
![]() |
19 | 19 | Jets haven't won two consecutive games all month |
![]() |
18 | 19 | The Winnipeg Jets are, by all accounts, a pretty mediocre hockey team. They've lost seven of their past 10 games. And they're still within striking distance of first place in their division, entering the week trailing the Panthers by just four points. |
![]() |
23 | 20 | The big worry isn't so much the skidding of late, but the absence of Evander Kane (concussion) from the lineup. The youngster was having a breakout season until he became the NHL's latest victim. (There are just too many right now.) Then again, the Jets had trouble scoring even with Kane in the lineup. |

Me too
And I’d like to point out that CBS’s take on the Jets (“The Winnipeg Jets are, by all accounts, a pretty mediocre hockey team.”) is downright false, disproved here weekly.

I guess this site doesn't fit into the "all" category.

Mediocre?
Please expand on why calling the jets a “mediocre team” is “downright false”… they are in 10th, sitting at .500 and have consistanly missed the playoffs for the better part of a decade.
"By all accounts"
…is the completely false part; they’re 10th in the entire NHL in Fenwick close, a spot they’ve held most of the season.
I also don’t think anybody’s basing their ranking on how a team’s done in the prior decade, else you’d see Montreal, Tampa Bay, and Carolina higher than the bottom 10.

Oh I'm not doing it because I think it's accurate
I just do it to laugh at all the experts that get paid to do the same level of analysis we do here

I know and I do read this.
Just like that we are ranked higher on the Fenwick chart.

I like that there appears to be zero method to the madness. It reminds me of me.
By contrast Fenwick uses things like facts and logic…how quaint
