Joe Thornton is preparing for the possibility of getting booed tonight: “Am I a star? We’ll have to wait and see. It’ll be fine. I don’t mind getting booed.” [Winnipeg Sun]

Claude Noel’s thought’s on how to better compete with the NHL’s best: “You are playing against a team that has won a Cup and emotionally they get to a level that you’ve got to know that you are going to have to dig down and reach. For me, you have to be prepared emotionally, but you can’t practice an emotional level. You have to go through the experiences of it.” [London Free Press]

Tim Campbell’s not-so-subtle take on how Bostonian’s have handled the Brad Marchand suspension: “The city, its hockey team and rabid hockey fans have closed ranks on the NHL and the hockey world over the five-game suspension of bad boy forward Brad Marchand. They are in a bubble, plain and simple. If you had not seen Marchand’s Saturday low-bridge check on Vancouver’s Sami Salo and only listened and read about the incident here in Beantown, you would be thoroughly convinced that Marchand had done nothing wrong, that he was just trying to protect himself and that the Bruins are virtually the victims in this matter.” Okay, so Bruins fans are just like the fans of all other 29 NHL teams then? Thanks for the clarification. [WFP]

Get out the sparklers and streamers, Eric Fehr scored his first goal as a Winnipeg Jet. Has the weight of a 18 scoreless games now been lifted and can Winnipeg count on Fehr for regular contributions going forward? [Winnipeg Sun]
