Reader Imbroglio asked me if we had some data for career power-play point leaders. Somewhere, somebody has this data back to the dawn of time – for example, Wayne Gretzky's PP stats go back to 1979-80 on ESPN (and Bryan Trottier goes back to 1975-76.) But we don't have these numbers on hockey-reference (goals only) or NHL.com (only back to 1987-88.) To put everybody on the same scale, I want to use power-play points per 60 minutes of PPTOI, so we actually end up going back just to 1997-98, which is when the NHL started officially counting ice time.
