Behold, the Future: Jets Prospects Update, Nov. 19th

While we've been messing with the IceCaps roster on a daily basis, the baby Jets have been out there and playing their little tails off.  Well, some more than others...the IceCaps are straight-up dominating in the AHL at least, rolling to a 5-1-0 record since our last prospects update.  Go, IceCaps, keep...melting?  freezing?  I don't know.

Observations:  Carl "Dr. Death" Klingberg just keeps rolling in his maiden voyage in North America; I've been slow to come around to his potential, but he's starting to win me over.  Finally, Tedward Pasquale gets his shot, and the IceCaps can't stop winning.  Both Klingberg and Teddy will take their lumps, but you have to like a pair of 20-year olds turning heads in the AHL (and not because they're scantily clad women shoveling ice shavings).  And then there's Jason DeSantis, whose performance defies explanation...oh, and by the way, could somebody please please please send David Aebischer to Germany already?

Machacek is still producing...

Probability owes him a couple goals too. I was hoping he would show enough to stick around with the big club, he was sent down fairly early though. I always hope someone like that can turn into a solid NHLer. He may ultimately be a career AHLer.

Machecek played a bit with Atlanta last season and wasn’t impressive. I think he needs more time in the minors to develop his game. Under the right circumstances he’ll wind up being a solid bottom six winger.

I’m glad that Klingberg has offensive numbers to show for to make up for the disappointing ones from last season in Sweden. Can’t wait to see him with the big club. I’m not entirely sure where he’ll fit in. Around the 2009 draft he was projected as a 2nd or 3rd liner in the mold of Tomas Holmstrom.

What’s going on with Gregoire and O’Dell? Injuries?

Melchiori might not have big offensive numbers to show for, but I see him as a decent blueliner for the Jets in a couple of years. I see him being similar to Jake Gardiner of the Leafs.

I know Gregoire's hurt

Don’t know about O’Dell, though he’s a fringe guy anyway. I’m lukewarm on Melchiori; I think Redmond might pan out to be better.

Redmond is playing well and he looked good in the preseason...

Between him Kudla and Postma we have a few youngsters that should be ready soon.
