Evgeni Nabokov to KHL: 4 years, $24M

And can you blame him?  I think Nabby would have struggled to get a 2-year, $6M deal in the NHL, so this was the right move on his part.  Will the entire contract get paid out?  Who knows.

Economics work a little differently in the KHL – fewer games and fewer wins mean the cost per win is necessarily higher.  A back of the envelope calculation says the cost of a win is about $1.5M over there.  With the level of play in the KHL significantly lower than that in the NHL, Nabokov could make this a value deal.  It seems strange that he'd be worth more money in a weaker league, but it sure looks that way.
